Handyman & Home Improvement in Orinda, CA

Wooded hillside lots, long driveways and homes where the outdoor space is half the house.

01Orinda homes

Orinda properties tend to be larger, sloped and surrounded by trees, and the work reflects that. Decks are how people actually use the yard. Retaining walls hold the usable ground in place. And everything wooden outdoors is living under oaks, which means moisture, debris and steady wear.

We rebuild and replace decks, build retaining walls and hardscape, handle exterior repaints and staining, and take on interior remodels in homes where the finish standard is high and the details get noticed.

Sloped driveways and tree cover also mean access planning — knowing before we start how material gets to the back of the property.

02What Orinda houses tend to need

Deck replacement under tree cover

Constant shade and leaf litter shorten the life of wood decks. Composite decking is often the better long-term answer here, and we'll compare it honestly against wood for your site.

Retaining walls on wooded slopes

Slope plus seasonal rain equals movement. Walls built with correct base, drainage and backfill hold; walls built as stacked block don't.

Interior finish work

In Orinda homes, trim, drywall and paint quality are the details clients notice. We finish accordingly.

03Questions

Working in Orinda

Is composite decking worth it under oak trees?

Often, yes. Composite doesn't absorb the constant moisture that shade and leaf litter create, and it won't need sanding and re-staining every couple of years the way wood in that environment does.

My retaining wall is leaning. Can it be repaired?

It depends on why. Leaning usually means water pressure behind the wall with nowhere to go, which is a drainage problem the original build didn't solve. We'll look at it and tell you whether it's a repair or a rebuild.

Can you access the back of a steep property?

We assess access during the walkthrough and plan material handling before the estimate, so nothing stalls once the project starts.
